Success in school is built step by step. Consistent attendance, perseverance through challenges, and active participation in learning all contribute to student progress.

Programs that recognize effort and persistence align with the principles of the 7 Mindsets curriculum, which emphasizes that students can take ownership of their choices and growth. Recognizing progress helps reinforce the idea that consistent effort and positive habits lead to meaningful outcomes.

Â鶹ֱ²¥ created the Engagement Badge Program to recognize the effort students put in every day and the growth they demonstrate along the way. The program focuses on outcomes such as improved attendance, stronger engagement, and resilience. When students see that their persistence, determination, and progress are recognized, it can make a meaningful difference. Teachers and staff award badges to highlight students who are developing positive habits, building confidence, and continuing to move forward in their education.

Recognizing Effort, Growth, and Determination

The Engagement Badge Program focuses on different ways students demonstrate commitment to their education. Each badge recognizes progress that helps students move forward.

  • Consistent ContributorÌý– The Consistent Contributor badge recognizes students who regularlyÌýparticipateÌýwith focus and effort. Continued engagement during challenging moments helps build habits that supportÌýlong-termÌýsuccess.Ìý
  • Attendance AchieverÌý– The Attendance Achiever badge recognizes students who improve their attendance or consistently show up for school. Each day in classÌýprovidesÌýanother opportunity to learn, connect with teachers, and stay on track academically.Ìý
  • Resilience in ActionÌý–ÌýThe Resilience in Action badge recognizes students who overcome challenges and reconnect with their learning.ÌýDetermination helps these students return to their studies and continue working toward their goals.Ìý
  • Momentum BuilderÌý–ÌýThe Momentum Builder badge highlights students whoÌýdemonstrateÌýsteady improvement in effort, attitude, or participation. The program values progress and encourages students to continue building positive momentum.Ìý

Not every badge applies to every student. The program focuses on recognizing individual progress and growth.

A Collaborative Effort Across the School

Teachers and staff work directly with students to award badges when progress is visible. School leaders also present badges at the school level. The effort reflects a shared commitment across the Â鶹ֱ²¥ community to recognize student growth.

Research has also shown that when students feel their effort is recognized by teachers and school staff, they are more likely to feel connected to their school community and remain engaged in their learning. Studies from the American Institutes for Research have highlighted how positive recognition from educators can strengthen student persistence and engagement.

Recognition helps students understand that their effort and determination matter. The program recognizes progress week to week and day to day. Students build momentum and stay focused on long-term goals.

Celebrating Progress at Graduation

The Engagement Badge Program encourages students to remain focused on their long-term goal of graduation.

Students who qualify will receive an engagement pin during the graduation ceremony, recognizing their consistency, resilience, and commitment throughout the year.

Teachers and/or staff may also have the opportunity to acknowledge students on stage, sharing brief reflections on their progress and growth. As the program continues to evolve, how students are recognized during the ceremony may be refined each year.

This moment highlights the determination and progress students demonstrate throughout their educational journey.

Celebrating Every Step Forward

The Engagement Badge Program reflects a simple idea. Progress deserves recognition.

Students may improve attendance, reconnect with learning after a challenge, or steadily strengthen their engagement in school. Each step forward matters. Â鶹ֱ²¥ recognizes these achievements and encourages students to keep building confidence, momentum, and a path toward graduation and future success.
